Motor Driver
Amplifies motor control signal e.g. from a microcontroller to control a motor.
Common Motor Drivers
- L3L293D
- Controls 2 DC Motors
- 4.5 - 36V
- 600mA Continious Current, 1.2 A Peak Current
- Transistor based
- L298N
- 4.5 - 46V
- 2A Continous Current, 3 A Peak Current
- Current Sense
- Transistor based
- TB6612FNG
- 2.5 V - 15 V
- 1.2 A Continous, 3.2 Peak Current
- Produces little heat
- MOSFET based
- VNH2SP30
- For one motor
- 12V - 16V
- Current 14 A continious, peak: 30 A
- Produces little heat
- MOSFET based
How to choose a driver
- Choose driver based on the motor voltage
- The coninous current provided by the driver must be bigger than the motors stall current
- For battery powered usecases use MOSFET based drivers because they have less power drop
